Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
