Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.
Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
